    MATTY G.

Matty G is without doubt the pioneer of the hip hop influenced sub-genre that ever so present in today's flourishing dubstep scene. Since his first release in 2006 on US based imprint 'Argon', he has gone from strength to strength building on his sample based 90's hip hop sound and having scene defying tracks along the way all from his studio in Santa Cruz, USA. In 2007 came the massive '50,000 Watts' which set the bar for the sub-low 808 sound that many have tried to imitate since and remains a true anthem within the scene to this day. It gained support from the who's who of dubstep royalty including Caspa & Rusko (featuring on their legendary FabricLive compilation), Skream, Digital Mystikz, N-Type & Joe Nice to name a few and also received the remix treatment from dubstep pioneer Loefah, all going towards firmly cementing the track, and Matty G in the history of the sound.

Later that year Matty came with another anthem in the shape of 'West Coast Rocks' which again raised the bar and received a remix from Dub Police head honcho Caspa, who also that year put out Matty's debut release for the Dub Police label on the 2nd installment of the License To Thrill series sharing wax with Rusko and Dubwoofa.

In 2008 Matty released his debut album on Argon entitled 'Take You Back', which received rave reviews from all corners of the dubstep scene as well as bridging the gap even more so between dubstep and hip hop. Featuring vocals performances from the likes of Juakali and Audio Angel, the LP again solidified Matty's place among the dubstep ranks. As well as proving to be a renowned producer, Matty showed the masses he is as talented behind the decks, touring far and wide playing at such prestigious nights as; DMZ at The Mass in Brixton, Dub Police at Fabric in London and the world famous Glastonbury Festival (the largest music and performing arts festival in the world).

Fast forward to 2010-2011 and having just completed a tour of US for Scion AV along with Caspa, The Others, D1 and Rod Azlan, Matty is back in the studio on the best form of his life with numerous tracks doing the rounds and massive releases lined up including a single for Dub Police as well as remixes for Caspa and label mate Subscape. 2011 has shaped up to be the year when his musical stalwart really shined through. Matty just finished up his "Back To THe Bay" album which just dropped on Dub Police.

    6BLOCC

R.A.W. aka 6BLOCC is known for his relentless techniques behind the wheels of steel. Getting his start back in 1985, this dj is no amateur when it comes to tuntablizm. He was already battling local djs in Los Angeles before the modern dj culture was even created. In 1988 he made his move into the hip hop game with 2 vinyl releases under the name PROJECT X which featured Brooklyn MC, SILKSKI.

In 1994, R.A.W. alongside Dj Curious and Dj Trance (Jason Blakemore) started L.A.'s first jungle weekly called....JUNGLE! Located at a dirty abandoned train station known as the Belmont Tunnel (Predator II was filmed here as well), the weekly gathering was the only place on the westcoast to hear the dark sounds of reinforced and suburban base records. The venue was kept dark with only one laser to keep the junglist listening and falling deeper into the music.

By the mid-90's R.A.W. was traveling all over the world rocking crowds with his signature sound of urban jungle choonz and b-boy turntable tactics. In 1997, R.A.W. would go on to win the West L.A. Music Dj Battle judged by Dj Quik. "I remember Quick jumping like crazy when I was rocking doubles of J Magik's 'Your Sound'", says R.A.W. Shortly after this he was hired by a Japanese sound design company to produce 2 sample cd's: DRUM AND BASS AMMO and HIP HOP AMMO; both were sold with the Roland SP-808 in Japan. Also around this time he began to release his jungle productions on labels like Warner Bros., Thrive, Priority, Mictlan, Tonz of Drumz, N2O and by 2000 on labels like Thermal, Vortex, Sound Sphere where the sound was getting faster and rougher. His single on Sound Sphere was a masterpiece created with E-Sassin at the Sound Sphere studios. Together they weaved an intricate tale of twisted breaks and evil winds over a relentless bassline that would pound the listener every 16 counts. "That song still wrecks shop everytime I play it out..and of course I have to rock doubles!"

Back in 2006, while working on some drum and bass material R.A.W. heard a bassline coming from the nextdoor studio and asked, "what or who is this?" It was a mix by Youngsta from the UK, "the sound spoke to me and said follow me...and I did". R.A.W. continues, "I felt like I was ready to change my style and move onto a new sound...dubstep was exactly what I needed at the time. Drum and bass reached a point where I no longer felt like it was me and it was also getting too fast and void of the funk."

By 2007 R.A.W reinvents himself as 6BLOCC and is releasing his new sound on labels like Lo Dubs, N2O, Tribe Steppaz UK, Bootshake UK, La Dubstep Nostra and the popular white label War Recordings. In 2008, Portland bass music label, Lo Dubs calls upon the 6BLOCC to rock a mix cd featuring the Lo Dubs roster. A blend of hypnotic textures and warped basslines from the future cut the f*ck up using Cubase SX3, 6blocc says, "I decided to use Cubase to give it a different feel than the usual mix-cd and to add my own samples and edits." The result is ANALOG CLASH, the first CD compilation / mix that features dubstep music from the Americas (north and south) as well as a remix from Vex'd. So far it has sold over 3000 units within months of the release date! When he isn't on the road or in the air flying to various clubs and events throught out the U.S. 6BLOCC is managing his digi-label DIGITAL 6 (available on www.digital-tunes.net -www.chemical-records.co.uk - www.addictech.com) and knocking out dubstep remixes and originals.

The word on the streets is 6BLOCC is looking to put out some white labels of his hottest dubplates that always get the call...PUULLLL UUUPPPPP!!!! If you're wondering what the name 6BLOCC means? "I got the name from a Masta Ace song here he says, "The bass I create is heard from six blocks". BOOM!

Hailing from parts unknown, the Automatic Man remains mysterious. Sometime around 1998, he made his first trip to outer space. Ever since then he has been delivering funk like no other. When you come to watch the Automatic Man deliver the goods, you never know what to expect. But do know that your ears will be pimped like only someone from the space age can bring it.

Dylan Thomas is one of the leaders of the new school underground in
St. Louis. Starting out at 13 as an enthusiastic fan of electronic
music, Dylan found himself emerged within the growing underground rave
scene in Arizona. Fascinated with the sounds of Drum & Bass, he began
DJing in 2002 at the age of 19, his skills quickly picking up
momentum, consistently redefining his sound with every public
performance. From airy Atmospheric to mental Neuro to his thick
Downtempo and Glitch Hop selections, his sound stands out with his own
unique flavor of bass driven rhythms. Dylan Thomas is notorious
throughout the region for bringing the rock to the crowd.

Transplanting himself first to Kansas City, Dylan became an
established member of that scene as a member of local mega-crew
Syde-Sho and Columbia-based MidWest Massive. Then his travels took him
to St. Louis, where he has become a premiere DJ, with a pair of
established residencies (Mercury, Upstairs Lounge), as well as
performing at hundreds of warehouse and nightclub events. He is one of
the founders of local recording label, UnitOvOne, and has co-produced
over one hundred parties and events since its inception. He is also a
member of Dedication Crew, one of the most established D&B and Dubstep
promotion crews in the Midwest US.

Kid Liquid has been known to drop a barrage of dancefloor killers over the past decade. Early on, the sound of choice was funky house. As he progressed as a dancer, that funky flavor started swinging towards breaks. As of late it's hard to predict what you will get from this Midwest bass fiend. Breaks, Electro, Drum n Bass, Drumstep, Dubstep or a finely sliced mix of all things broken beat are not uncommon to hear slamming through the bassbins when Kid Liquid rocks a party. Co-Founder of St. Louis based Fifty Foot Robots, and fresh new addition to the infamous Future Sound of Breaks crew, Kid Liquid is constantly making moves. Motivating dancefloors from Miami to L.A., and many underground circuits between, this high energy selector is about to rip the walls down-always doing it PROPER in this digital urban scene.

Hailing from St. Louis, VicDamone first experienced the St. Louis EDM scene in early 2000 and hasn't turned back since. Picking up his first set of breaks vinyl in 2004 he began his journey to control dance-floors wherever he could. Starting in living-rooms and basements, then on to local bars like Mercury and Urban Lounge, and playing some of STL's staple EDM events. With influential artists like Curtis B, Supernaut, Eric Barretta, Simply Jeff and many, many more guiding his style, let it be known that VicDamone is here to unleash a barrage of nasty beats to keep dance-floors packed and rockin! “d-_-b”

Blindfire Entertainment co-founder Undertow. Brandon Spraul – or Undertow
    - has been hard at work in St. Louis and throughout the midwest
bringing top notch shows to the STL area while at the same time
gaining momentum and recognition as a bright spot in the future of
midwest EDM – both as a DJ – where he has played alongside some of the
biggest names in the industry – as well as his current focus on
    production.

Booty Halloween, Psychotronic, Underground Sound – any major midwest
event – chances are you have had a chance to catch Brandon in action.
Gaining this type of momentum in such a short amount of time could be
tough to handle for some – but by staying busy, and never looking back
    – Brandon has managed to take all of it in stride while at the same
time putting together some of the best dance music events the midwest
has seen in some time – alongside Tommy & Madison Gunns(Shanahan) -
    and the Blindfire entertainment crew.

A long-lasting love for the fluidity of dance music, and a belief that
the music itself can save souls – have influenced Undertows style in
many ways over the years – at first he was captured by the high energy
and excitement of all things electro – and you can still hear that in
his sets today – but combined with other influences and experience –
Undertow’s sound has become one of its own character and depth –
energetic yet intelligent tech house – and all flavors of it.

Make sure to keep an eye out for original work – bigger and better
events from Blindfire – and take up Brandon’s invitation to join him
as his music evolves and takes you to the next level – and this week,
enjoy his exclusive Sunday Slackin’ podcast mix – enjoyable anyway you
like – but always when you need it most

The Mohawk is a Saint Louis based dj/producer. If you haven't guessed it from his name, the man likes mohawks. He's been rockin' one for over eight years and it currently stands at one foot tall. His love for electronic music, poking people in the eye, and affiliation with Nasty Rumor began in early 2005. Since his discovery of dubstep and the trigger finger, Mohawk became predominately an Ableton DJ, but now has made the switch to vinyl. His prior gigs include opening sets for Borgore, Skism, Dub Gabriel, Bombaman, Lazer Sword, Phaded, Claw and Richie August of Hulk, Trillbass, Reso, High Rankin, Mark Instinct, Cyberoptics, J.Rabbit, NastyNasty, Hellfire Machina and more.

With influences ranging from Jimi Hendrix to Nine Inch Nails, The Mohawk is one of the darker dubstep artists to have risen from St. Louis. With his efforts not going unnoticed, he was nominated in the 2010 Riverfront Times Music Awards along side Heezy for "Best DJ" in Saint Louis. Outside the club scene, he helped create the Dubstep Fiesta Tent during the summer of 2010 at the festival known as Schwagstock. Back in the studio, he began doing radio in early 2010 and is a founding member of “The Wrek Sessions” on Electrolouis.com internet radio, which was just nominated in the 2011 Riverfront Times Music Awards for "Best Residency/Weekly". As one of the eldest members in St. Louis’s hardest working crew, Nasty Rumor, Mohawk lives, eats, sleeps and breathes music, making him one of Midwest's finest acts.

NOAH has been pushing electro, in the underground and above, since before there was a section devoted to it in Mixmag, fle sharing, or the blogosphere. As an OZ Nightclub VIP resident he introduced St. Louis electronic music fans to many of the artists that have since shaped the electro house genre that so many of us love today.
His live peak hour sets and marathon after hour performances combine songs you know and love with big, crunchy, glitched-out electro smashers that are as fun to sweat to on the dance floor as they are to groove to at the house party you found yourself in the middle of at 5AM.

    Vs

    **Biggums**
    Electro House
DeeJay Biggums first entered the EDM scene 5 years ago, as a fan with great love for Electronic Music. About 2 years ago, he decided to take this love and share it with others. He has had the pleasure to play at many venues, such as...Upstairs Lounge, The Oz VIP Emerald City Lounge, 2720, The Complex, Rue 13 and Europe Night Club. Biggums is greatly influenced by such artist as...Porter Robinson, Mord Fustang, Zedd, Darth & Vader and many others. Biggums has a unique sound of Electro Bassline that is always evolving and causes pure havoc to the dance floor. Be ready to have the time of your life just like Biggums does every time he has the pleasure to play and share his love for Electronic Music. Watch out for Biggums in St.Louis and cities around the Mid-West.
